Project 2.2: Mexico - JARED, AN 8 YEAR-OLD LIVING IN EL HOGAR DULCE HOGAR Update

June 2014 Mexico City - Jared was born with a cleft lip, cleft palate, and a defect that prevents him from closing his eyelids - if not fixed, this defect can lead to terrible consequences for his eyes. Jared has already had four operations to correct his cleft lip, but unfortunately, Jared’s mom passed away and his father suffered an accident that left him paralyzed therefore they could no longer provide for his operations.

We would like to give Jared the opportunity to live a normal life after medical treatments. Several ABC Medical Center doctors along with their teams have offered their services pro-Bono to carry out the first operation. El Hogar Dulce Hogar is raising the necessary funds (about 30,000 MXP / USD 2,300) to cover the cost of the surgery, hospital stay, and medications. Once he is discharged from the hospital, he will need post-operative care that will be conducted at the Hogar Dulce Hogar, where he already has a specific room and professional help who will take care of him.
