Proj.1: Mexico - MAYTE & HER SON SEBASTIAN Update
Mayte is the mother of 2-year-old Raul Mateo and 4-year-old Sebastian, who has been diagnosed with hearing problems. Mayte, her husband, and Raul Mateo will have to learn sign language to communicate with Sebastian if a very expensive hearing aid is not given to Sebastian.
Mayte’s family does not have enough money to pay for Sebastian’s medicine and the hearing aid that he requires. Her husband works long hours as a taxi driver in Mexico City to provide for the family. Mayte would like to help her husband pay for Sebastian’s hearing aid and medications but she can’t work as she travels an hour and a half to Sebastian’s special needs school, and waits for him outside the school. She has no choice but to wait because her round trip is too expensive and takes an hour and a half to complete.
Mayte’s main concern, however, is to get a hearing aid for Sebastian in the near future.
